    Default Alpha or Beta?

Alright, so recently a neighbor of mine cleaned out his house and found a crap ton of old magic cards in it. I was looking through them and I noticed a lot of them didn't have the normal set symbol or the small text (stating the copyright and such) under the name of the Illustrator. I was told by a friend that these are either Alpha or Beta cards, is there any way to tell the difference between the two?

    see here:

Magic The Gathering - ABUGames.com - Magic Singles, Boxes, Packs and Card Supplies

    Alpha

    - More rounded corners than any other Magic cards.
    - Black bordered
    - No expansion symbol
    - No copyright date

    Beta

    - Near identical to Alpha except they have regular rounded corners
    - Black bordered
    - No expansion symbol
