There's no such thing as "currently being regenerated".

What I think he means is, if a creature receives an effect that would destroy it, and so puts a regeneration effect on the stack, and you put another effect on the stack that would destroy it, what happens? Do you need a regen effect for each destruction effect?

Yes, you do. Each regeneration "shield" only works once.
