    if creature with trample dies in combat does it still do trample dmg?

    There's nothing special about "trample damage". It's treated just like normal damage. And just like normal damage, it's dealt as the same time as any other damage (barring first/double strike).

    I think he means if the creature with trample has a higher power than the defending creature's toughness, does the creatures controller still take the leftovers. Yes, even if the creature with trample dies.

    That's exactly what I mean. "Trample damage"is nothing special, it's still dealt at the same time as any other damage.
