Yup. Everything except for lands is a spell as you're casting it. That includes artifacts, creatures, enchantments, sorceries, planeswalkers, and instants (and technically tribals, but since they're always attached to another card type, that's kinda redundant).

yea i also thought when i started that only sorceries and instants and enchantments are spells but now i know that anything thats not a land is a spell

Also note that it's only a spell while it's on the stack, not in play or anywhere else.

if you dont know interrupt to worry they dont exist any more. everything that used to be one has been changed to an instant ... aww this is not the game i once played ... although i have to admint interrups were kind of unnecacery ... and then they print split second :P
