    why the heck does my bonfire of the damned have two x's? Is it a mistake?

    it means you choose the cost of "X" and pay it twice

    for example if you choose X to be 2 you will pay 2+2+R

    It means that whatever you want X to be, you have to pay it twice. For example, if you want your Bonfire to deal 3 damage to everything, then you have to pay 3+3+R, for a total of 6R.

    That's...that's gross. I'm really hoping that you're exaggerating for the sake of hyperbole, because it hurts me to hear that someone literally threw away $40.

    If you didn't like the best burn card in standard right now you could have just traded it for.. I dunno.. something you like that's 40 bucks?
