Default difference between exile and destroy mtg

Whats exactly the difference between exiling a creature and destroying one? I mean I understand it goes to different zones, but since they are both out of play then whats the difference one way or another?

The difference is when it comes to other cards that interact with the different zones. A lot of cards interact with the graveyard, so if a card is exiled it won't be able to interact with those cards. Similarly, any cards that interact with exile won't hit cards in the graveyard.

Beyond any cards that affect either of those zones, there's not really any difference.

In general it is better to exile a creature then destroy it since lots of cards bring creatures cards back from the graveyard while an exiled creature is harder to bring back
