Yes. Equipment stays on a creature until its controller uses its equip ability to move it onto another.

Do Aura's get destroyed when a creature does? I would assume so but not positive.

If the creature an Aura is attached to ever leaves play, the Aura goes to its owner's graveyard. It isn't technically "destroyed", though.
