    Default can you cast instants in between first and second strike magic

    are you allowed to cast instant in combat in between the 1st strike and the 2nd strike like for creatures that have double strike?

    Yes. First/double strike actually creates another damage step, and like the first damage step, you get priority to do things afterwards before the game moves to the next step.
