Enjoy stories from the west about Paladin in "Have Gun, Will Travel"!

Have Gun, Will Travel debuted on November 23, 1958. The show followed the adventures of Paladin, a gentleman-turned-gunfighter played by John Dehner on radio, who preferred to settle problems without violence, yet, when forced to fight, excelled. Paladin lived in the Carlton Hotel in San Francisco, where he dressed in semi-formal wear, ate gourmet food, and attended opera. In fact, many who initially met him mistook him for a dandy from the East. When working, he dressed in black, used calling cards and wore a holster which carried characteristic chess knight emblems, and carried a derringer under his belt. Paladin was a former Army officer and a graduate of West Point. He was capable of speaking any foreign tongue required by the plot. He also had a thorough knowledge of ancient history and classical literature, and he exhibited a strong passion for legal principles and the rule of law.

CDVD Mart presents the Old Time Radio Shows of the New Adventures of Nero Wolfe available on Audio CD!

Nero Wolfe, a man born in Montenegro, is a large figure, often stated by Archie as being “a seventh of a ton” in bulk. Aside from being a genius in detection, the large man also has expensive taste in food, a garden of orchids, and is a voracious reader. He rarely leaves his home, and never on business, preferring to solve the crimes in his office. His daily schedule is inviolate, including two 2-hour periods up in the plant rooms and time set aside for lunch and dinner. (Business is never discussed during meals.) While he is superb at his detection, he is not inclined to work to the point of needing a prodding from Archie to work for money.

Archie Goodwin, on the other hand, fits the mold of the standard hard-boiled detective to a ‘T’. He is sarcastic and witty and far more the man-of-action. Acting as Wolfe’s assistant he is the one to go out and get the facts (and bring home the suspects for questioning) while Wolfe tends to his orchids. His is the voice that can prod Wolfe into taking a case, and his skill and knowledge bring the pieces of information that Wolfe needs to solve the crimes.

CDVD Mart presents the Old Time Radio Shows on Audio CD! These shows are dramatized and very enjoyable! The discs have professional Lightscribe labels 'burned' on them - no more paper labels or sharpies!

Let George Do It was a radio drama series starring Bob Bailey as detective-for-hire George Valentine (with Olan Soule stepping into the role in 1954). Clients came to Valentine's office after reading a newspaper carrying his classified ad: "Personal notice: Danger's my stock in trade. If the job's too tough for you to handle, you've got a job for me. George Valentine." Valentine's secretary was Claire Brooks, aka Brooksie (Frances Robinson, Virginia Gregg, Lillian Buyeff). As Valentine made his rounds in search of the bad guys, he usually encounted Brooksie's kid brother, Sonny (Eddie Firestone), Lieutenant Riley (Wally Maher) and elevator man Caleb (Joseph Kearns).

Sam Spade His clients got bumped off with startling regularity. Each case came out as a report, dated, signed, and delivered. Spade's license number - 137596 - was always included in the report. The cases unfolded in chronological order, the scenes shifting between Sam and Effie and the dramatization of Sam's dictation. Effie, who always seemed on the verge of tears whenever Sam became involved (as he did weekly) with a curvy client, was beautifully played by Lurene Tuttle, and Jerry Hausner played Sam's lawyer, Sid Weiss.

Dragnet Complete Collection Volume #1 (of 3)
    (50 Audio CDs)

Dragnet was a police action series that ran for 382 episodes over 7 1/2 years from June 3, 1949 to February 26, 1957 on the NBC radio network. It was the first police series that detailed every single step involved in police work. The street cops would often discover a crime, then the detectives would investigate and gather evidence. The questioning of witnesses and suspects was typically included. The show even went so far as to show the mundane tasks involved in police work like filling out paperwork.
