Need to come up with good reasons why homework should be banned

I think certain amount of homework is needed otherwise kids will play too much video games/ watch TV instead of studying.

Though I am against Too much homework. Homework must be given in the correct amount so that kids will still learn, but not completely resent it and also have time to do other things. I hated having too much homework and spending all afternoon and evening doing it.

Maybe not banned completely, but the nature of homework given can be improved to increase motivation. For example for a geography homework instead of making a kid just plain memorize where countries are on the map, they could have the kids build their own jigsaw puzzle of earth - such activity would make country locations stick better then any dull memorizations.

Homework should be banned because it limits the amount of time kids can spend making friends and getting social interaction. This can create longterm harm to the child as they grow and lack the matured relationship building and social interaction skills needed to be successful in a world which is increasingly based on interaction and networking.

Therefore academic learing should be confined to time spent in school and for time outside of school left open for social development.

Oh and for the record I totally disagree with this line of thought. I wish kids were given larger and harder workloads to help prepare them for a world in which your boss doesn't give a rip about your life outside of work but in which your work ethic of having to get it done even if you don't want to is paramount. Kids should have an hour or two worth of homework Mon, Tue and Thur. Wed should be free of homework so families to attend church (if they do). Friday should have 3-5 hours worth of work to do so you have projects to complete over the weekend.
