Split large CSV/Text files into several smaller files

I have some very big files with data with them either in CSV or text format. I need to split them into smaller files. How can I do that?

Hi,

I had the same problem and I found this:
JR File Split - Free File Splitter Software

it lets me specify how much size each of the small files will be and to how many files to split. I have CSV files and Tab Separated files of 500,000 rows and I just separate them to 10 different files. And it also leaves the original file intact if you need it.

The other program someone suggested before me also looks good but I havent tried it personally maybe I'll try that as well

Thanks for the suggestion, i'm already used to gsplit now so havent tried the other one in gsplit I can also specify all those options like what size to make each file to and restore the split files back to original one.
