Default how do you know if 1541 commodore drive works?

I have a boxed 1541 Disk Drive for the Commodore 64 which I want to put on Ebay only problem is that I am not sure if it works and I dont have a Commodore 64 computer, is there a way of telling if the drive works without hooking it up to a computer?

    I don't think so, sorry.
If you got the power lead, the only thing to test: if it powers up. Both lights should light up. Motor spins for a short time, and then the red light (it shows drive activity) turns off again.
That wouldn't be such a bad sign. But it does not say the drive is in working condition, for sure.

If the lights turn on and stuff then it probably works since the Commodore hardware is of pretty good qualiy, though still to be safe you should put in your auction descripition somethin along the lines "untested, sold as is"
