what are the different statuses of the commodore64 1541 diskdrive green light

If it's a 1541, the green light shows power status, red light drive activity
If I recall the 1541-II is opposite.

What does it mean when red light is flashing

That means either file not found, or you tried loading something with the drive door opened, or you tried to load a disk that just plain wasn't there in the first place! In otherwords something's rotten in Denmark, go see what it is! ;v)
