    Default Commodore 64 Basic Language

While many people treated the C64 more as a Gaming Console, it was actually a computer with a programming language- BASIC

While I did spend a lot of times playing games as a kid (C64 had very cool and fun games) I also tried the programming side. The C64 is what actually first got me into programming.

I remember spending hours writing BASIC programs, from making a ball bounce on the screen, to text choose your own adventure style games, and even mini full featured graphical games. and I was only like 6 years old at the time. Still, my roots in the programming world were planted back then.

Anyone else have an experience to share with regards to the C64 and BASIC?

And so did I, sadly. That is something I really regret nowadays. But today, I've found your Academy BASIC. Maybe I'll start coding now

I remember trying very hard to write up a bulletin board system for the C64 and spending probably a year's worth of spare time on the project at the very least. It was called "Darkmoon BBS" and I was going to revolutionize the online world.

    Ha.

Oh well. I remember distinctly regretting not owning the C1660 manual anymore (after convincing my dad to buy a 1670, because 300 baud was passe') because it had the POKE commands for telling the stupid modem to answer the phone remotely...

A Bulletin Board System for the C64 would definetly have been a neat thing, how far did you get

I don't remember precisely, but I remember lamenting over tossing away the manual for the 1660 as it had POKEs for making the modem answer on ring.

I spent a few years anyways on it before I had to give it up. :?
