Pokemon Black White Walkthrough Part 25 – Driftveil Gym Challenge

This Gym has a large number of Rock and Ground-type Pokemon. Oshawott and Snivy starters will find themselves at a serious advantage for many of the fights inside. You will want your team in their high 20's to low 30's to be able to demolish this Gym. Head on in and talk with your Coach to get some handy tips for navigating this Gym.

Walk forward and use the lighted green arrow to reach the Gym floors themselves. Go to the right to find the first trainer, Worker Felix, with his team ofPalpitoad lvl. 28 and Drilbur lvl. 28. Beathim then it the green arrow on the elevator in front of him. Walk forward to the next elevator and take it up, hitting the red arrow on the left. Move further back on the elevator then walk to the right to take on Worker Sterling with his Sandile lvl. 28 and  Drilbur lvl. 28. Head back down, moving along the metal beam along the back wall to the left then down. This leads to Worker Don with his Krokorok lvl. 29. Hop onto the elevator below him and take it down.

Here there are two elevators you can take:
The one on the right leads to Clerk Issac with his team of 2 Sandiles at lvl. 27 and Palpitoad lvl. 27. After that, you can take it back on down.
The one above you leads upwards. When it stops move to the back wall and go to the right. You will encounter Clerk Katie with her Drilbur lvl. 29. After you beat her, take the elevator below her to clear the way to Clay himself.

Clay
Hyper Potion: 2

Krokorok lvl. 29 – Crunch, Swagger, Bulldoze, Torment
Palpitoad lvl. 29 – Aqua Ring, Bulldoze, Muddy Water, Bubblebeam
Exadrill lvl. 31 – Hone Claws, Slash, Rock Slide, Bulldoze

Everything looks to be in Clay's favor. Bulldoze can lower your Pokemon's speed and many of those moves are fairly powerful. The thing is none of Clay's Pokemon are all that fast. This puts them at a serious disadvantage as many can be one-hit KO'ed by Water or Grass-type moves. A single Pokemon potentially can sweep this Gym Leader without taking a hit. Here is where Snivy and Oshawott starters will have the easiest time. Tepig will have to fight a bit more, but their Panpour can demolish this Gym with ease or any Grass-type around lvl. 25 – 30. Still, even with those factors going, the Excadrill has some speed to it so be wary of that. You want a decently speedy Pokemon, likely one with a speed around 70, to outpace it.

After the battle, Clay is none to happy to have lost and grudingly gives you the Quake Badge. He also gives you a TM, but remembers something that he wants done. He asks you to meet him in front of the Cave on Route 6. Easy enough to do to get this TM 78, Bulldoze! Head on out of the Gym and to Route 6, to the west of town.
