Pokemon Black White Walkthrough Part 23 – Driftveil City

Welcome to Driftveil City. Here, depending on your luck and the time of year, you can find weather out here. During the Spring, Summer and Autumn there could be rain and during the Winter you can find Hail. This is great stop overall as you can find a lot of goodies around town, a move tutor and a source for heart scales to change your Pokemon's moveset.

Still, let's get into town. The few people at the foot of the bridge do not have much interesting to say. Head on over to the left, toward the city itself. On the far side of the second bridge you will encounter Clay, the Gym Leader for Driftveil. He will be talking to Cheren when you arrive, making a comment on how the pair of you are the trainers that Elesa was talking about. He will recruit you to find the members of Team Plasma who got away from him when the Bridge was lower. He will only challenge you after you have caught the Team Plasma Grunts. At least you can explore the city freely as you do so.

Head into the second house in town. This is a battle move tutor who will teach your starter Pokemon either Grass Pledge, Fire Pledge or Water Pledge. Using the Pledges together increases its power and changes the type of attack it is. After that, head to the left from there, to reach the Market. Inside you can buy herbs to heal your Pokemon from the first seller on the right. They will heal or revive your Pokemon, but they are very bitter, so no Pokemon likes eating them. A slight friendship cost. Just opposite that seller is a man in a black suit and sunglasses. He will ask if you can show him a Pokemon level 30 or higher. If you do, he will give you an Expert Belt. This hold item increases the damage of super-effective attacks that the holder inflicts. Close to the top of the market you can buy Moomoomilk on some days. This is a great potion substitute to have around. After you poke around here, you will have likely noticed the item ball inside the market. You need to exit it and enter it from the left-hand side, where the Biker is. Just exit and move along that side, it is only a few steps down from the top that lets you get the item ball with a Big Pearl inside it.

Now that you are done with the Market, for now, talk with the Biker who is nearby. He will introduce you to a different style of battling, triple battle! He will offer to battle you in this new format. Give it a go.

Motorcyclist Charles:
Basculin, Krokorok and Zebstrika lvl. 27

During the battle, you will see each Pokemon can only reach particular Pokemon on the field. The one on the left can only hit the opponents on the left and center. The Pokemon in the center can hit any Pokemon while the one on the right can only hit the opponent on the right and in the center. After the battle, Charles will tell you that you can take part in more triple battles in Opelucid City.

Now, head up and enter the house above the Market. Talk to the lady. She will notice your Pokedex and ask you to show her a Pokemon knowing a particular move that day. For your efforts she will reward you with a Heart Scale. You can do this once a day and you will always get the same reward. This is great for changing around the movesets your Pokemon has once you find the Move Tutor who teaches old moves for Heart Scales. Head just a little to the right from there to find the Pokemon Center. If your team is feeling a little beat-up, visit it and patch them up. While inside, take a moment to talk with the girl on the second floor of the Center on the far-left. She will give you 3 Repeat Balls. These Balls have an increased catch rate on Pokemon you have caught previously.

Now, head down to the first row of houses below the Pokemon Center. Enter into the right-hand house and talk with the old man inside. If you have seen 50 or more Pokemon, he will give you the Shell Bell. That is all you can do immediately, so it is time to investigate the Team Plasma situation around town. Head down, past the market and exit through to the south. This leads to the Cold Storage.
