Pokemon Black White Walkthrough Part 22 – Route 5 and Driftveil Bridge

Head west through Nimbasa and take the gate near the Small Court. You will find Elesa waiting for you outside of it. There are a  few more people waiting for you too. The first one you meet is your friend Cheren. He will challenge you to a battle to see who is stronger now with the Bolt Badge.

Cheren's Teams:
If you chose Snivy
Liepard lvl. 24
Tranquill lvl. 24
Pansage lvl. 24
Pignite lvl. 26: Sitrus Berry

If you chose Oshawott
Liepard lvl. 24
Tranquill lvl. 24
Panpour lvl. 24
Servine lvl. 26: Sitrus Berry

If you chose Tepig
Liepard lvl. 24
Tranquill lvl. 24
Pansear lvl. 24
Dewott lvl. 26: Sitrus Berry

His teams do not see much change from the last time you encountered them. Mostly things have evolved or just gotten a few extra levels. The strategies remain largely unchanged.

After the battle, Cheren will be surprised that he has yet to be able to beat you (assuming you have won a lot of battles against him). At this point, Elesa makes her appearance. She will tell you to follow her so you can get across Route 5 (and the Drawbridge). Just a little after she starts leading you, a man calls out to her. This is Alder, the current Unova region Champion. Cheren will talk to him about his goal to become champion and his ambition to grow even stronger after that. He is a bit confused by the question though. Alder will encourage Cheren to battle. He will team up with you and the pair of you will take on two Preschoolers, Sarah and Billy, with Herdiers lvl. 26. Alder will compliment the preschoolers for their Pokemon looking like they had fun battling. He will tell Cheren that there will always be people after stronger and stronger Pokemon but there will also be people who are happy just being with Pokemon.

Elesa will ask you to follow her over to the Drawbridge itself. Before you it all the way over there, take some time to take on the trainers that are scattered around Route 5.
Baker Jenn is the one closest to the entrance of the route, standing by the truck. She sends out a Pansear lvl. 21, Panpour lvl. 21 and Pansage lvl. 21. Once you beat her, head into the trailer. There, you can sell Berries and various other food items to the Maid inside for money. This is a good way to make some quick cash.

Head over to the opening in the fences, closer to the entrance of the route and head up. You will find Backpacker Lois with their Munna lvl. 23. After you beat them, head behind them to grab the item ball with a Great Ball inside it. Now go to the left, you will find another Backpacker waiting for you. This is Michael who sends out a Palpitoad lvl. 23. The item ball you see near him has a Revive inside. This handy item will restore a fainted Pokemon with half health. Keep going to the left to find an item ball with a Zinc inside. Head back to the trailer (or hop over the ledge).

Go to the left from the trailer and into the crowd gathered near the trees. The next trainer is Harlequin Paul, who you need to talk to in order to challenge (the man in the clown suit), who has 2 Whirlipede lvl. 22. He is by the preschoolers and Alder. Just past Paul, closer to the trees is Musician Preston who will fight you with 2 Blitzle lvl. 22. After you beat him, he will give you a prop, an Electric Guitar. Walk a little to the left is another trainer, Dance Brian, with his 2 Darumaka lvl. 22. Just a little past the crowd is the next trainer, Artist Horton with his Sigilyph lvl. 23. Head down to the trees from Horton then to the left, going around the fence. You will find an item ball with a Hyper Potion inside it. Now, loop back onto the main road and finish going down Route 5.

You will reach the start of the Drawbridge, you will find Cheren and Elesa waiting there for you. Elesa will call the Gym Leader on the other side telling him that there a couple of trainers who want to challenge them. She will warn the next Gym Leader could take some getting used to. Cheren will be his usual self and just focus on winning battles. Head onto the bridge.

The Drawbridge has one interesting thing going on. While you are crossing it, look for shadows to be appearing while crossing over the surface of it. They will either give you items or lead to encounters with Pokemon. The crossing itself can be very uneventful if you avoid the shadows. On the other side you will find Driftveil City.
