Pokemon Black White Walkthrough Part 6 – Striaton Town

Welcome to the first real town that you can visit with a Gym. Incidentally, the Gym entrance is a straight line from Route 2, making it a piece of cake to find. However, when you get there, you will find a man who tells you that the leader of the gym is over at the Trainer School and for you to challenge him, you need to head over there. While somewhat disappointing, it is not unexpected. Head over one building to the Pokemon Center so you can heal up your team. Note that you cannot progress on in the world, beyond that Dream Yard, until you have collected the first Gym Badge.

Take a moment and it is time to explore the town. The second set of stairs you saw on the way in leads to Fennel's house. For now though, you cannot. Head between the buildings more to the right and the trees. There is a man there who will give you a dusk ball. Head further to the left after you get the dusk ball. You will find a few people to talk with, but nothing of serious importance is yielded from these conversations. However, tucked away behind the fountains, further back and to the left, is an item ball with a Great Ball.

Head into the school. You will find a number of people to talk to. However there are only two people who are really important to talk with. The first is the child farthest back on the right-hand side. Answer their questions about status conditions and they will give you a Full Heal! The basic information for this is:
Antidote cures Poison
Palyz Heal cures Paralyze
Awakening cures Sleep

Follow that and you should be able to get all the questions right. Head up to the blackboard and talk with Cheren. He will want to battle you to test out item usage during a battle.

Cheren will send out a Purrloin lvl. 8 and his starter, which is now lvl. 8 as well. It, however, is holding an Oran Berry. When it gets low on health, into the red, it will eat this berry and regain some HP.

After the battle, he will feel his theory is confirmed. Cheren comments on how important items are in battle, and rightly so. He will give you a small number of Oran Berries for you to use with your Pokemon. After all this Cheren will ask if you were looking for the Gym Leader. He will tell you that they had just left and that you might have passed him on the way over. Head back to the Gym and you will encounter Cilan. He will correctly assess which of the starters that you chose. He will suggest that you visit the Dream Yard, found to the right of the Gym, before you take on the Gym itself. As this Gym changes depending on the starter you chose, I second this recommendation. You have covered the basics of the town itself. Time for a quick detour to the Dream Yard, then you can take on the Gym.
