On stepping into the Gym, you’re given a Fresh Water, and it’s explained that the Gym is as much a fashion stage as a place for battles.  Trainers await you on the catwalk, and you’ll have to beat them to get past.  Finally, you’re reminded that Electric pokemon are weak to Ground attacks- but one of Elesa’s most often-used pokemon is Emolga, which is immune to Ground attacks thanks to also being of the Flying type.  Entertainingly, the three models/trainers here are named after important scientists to the development of electricity as a power source (go have a look at an encyclopedia or Wikipedia or something).

Your first battle happens as soon as you finish climbing the stairs to the catwalk.

Battle: Beauty Nikola (1512 Poke)
Opponent: Elekid Lv 27, Flaaffy Lv 27

Be careful with Elekid- it’s a lot stronger than most other baby pokemon, and this one usually opens up with Thunder Wave.  Thankfully, neither it nor Flaaffy are terribly fast, making their Electro Ball assaults pretty weak.  Once you beat Nikola, she heads back up the catwalk, leaving you to cross the lit area.  As soon as you step into the shadow, you’re challenged again.

Battle: Beauty Fleming (1512 Poke)
Opponent: Flaafy Lv 27, Blitzle Lv 27

Fleming’s Blitzle is a big fan of Flame Charge and Pursuit, so just don’t switch and it’s by far the weaker half of her team.  Keep going to face your third (and last) Gym trainer.

Battle: Beauty Ampere (1512 Poke)
Opponent: Blitzle Lv 27, Elekid Lv 27

Ampere’s Blitzle spams Flame Charge a lot, but she’s otherwise unremarkable.
