Pokemon HeartGold SoulSilver Kanto Walkthrough Part 41 – Viridian City Gym Challenge

Having dealt with everything at the “Cinnabar” Island Gym, it's time to visit Cinnabar itself again. Go talk with Red, who is waiting for you above the Pokemon Center. Now, he will accept your challenge and tell you to meet him at the Viridian City Gym.

This one is different from most other gyms. The floor is unstable, so your Pokemon will be tucked away. What you will need to do is step on the right panels that will send you spinning to the trainers. To reach the first trainer, head to the first set of blue arrows past the initial line of them. They will send to the first trainer, Ace Trainer Arabella, who will send out a Stantler lvl. 53 and Tauros lvl. 52. Give the Stantler the chance and it will use Trick Room, which changes the order of things. The faster one goes second while the slower one goes first. This can turn the tide of a battle with the right attacks used against you.

After that, step on any of the yellow arrows to get back to the front of the Gym. Now, you need to step onto the far right red arrow. Go straight down from there two steps to reach the blue arrow. This sends you to the next trainer; Ace Trainer Salma. She sends out a Slowking lvl. 50 and a Lickilicky lvl. 53.

Head back to the start of the Gym using the down arrows to the left. Head to the right  and take the same far right arrows up. From there, head a little to the left, taking the red arrow upwards. Take the next red arrow upwards. Take the closest red arrow upwards. After that take the red arrow to the right then go straight up to have a long spin to the next trainer. Ace Trainer Bonita is your next opponent with her Spinda lvl. 50 and Sudowoodo lvl. 52.

Move to the right from there, stepping onto the nearby red arrow. Now, take the far right red arrow. This sets you up to take down the leader.

Blue
I hope you can heal up a good part of your Party. Blue's opening Pokemon, Exeggutor will likely use Trick Room given the case, just before it faints. Keep this in mind and take it out fast so you don't have to deal with the reversed speed. While it is in effect, remember, the slower one goes first. Most of his Pokemon have a strong move set and a good ability to back it up. The Machamp is very much something to watch out for. With its ability No Guard, it will take every hit, but every hit of its will land. This is something to worry about. Take it out in One Hit or you risk it all. The same could be said for the Gyarados, but it needs a little more time to get moving. Watch out for it using Dragon Dance. This increases both Speed and Attack. You have been warned. You need to hit the weaknesses quickly and strongly to ensure an easier fight in the later stages of this battle. This guy is no slouch and will use his Full Restores.
