Now that you’re in Castelia City, it’s time to leave the dock and go exploring a bit.  As soon as you set foot on the city street, you’re approached by a clown, who tells you that it’s time for ‘the Harlequin Hunt’.  He then gives you a Bicycle for.... free, actually.  This makes about as much sense as the fact that you immediately stuff the thing into your backpack (maybe it’s one of those tiny little half-a-foot clown bicycles?), so go ahead and listen as he tries to make this make more sense.

The clown- or harlequin, given his specific appearance- tells you that you need to visit places around the city and talk to the harlequins you’ll see in them.  He then lists off the places you can find the harlequins: the Medal Office, Passerby Analytics, and the Battle Company.  Encouraging you to ride the bike, the clown shoos you away and then steps back to give you a little breathing space.

Castelia is a big city, so you can putter about pretty much however you want, but I’ll be telling you about it from right to left and bottom to top, as you’ve arrived near the Southern side of the city.

The rightmost pier contains two men.  One of them is just lurking there to tell you what a ‘thumbs-up’ is, but the construction worker will mention that the Sewers are sometimes used by trainers to ‘toughen up’ their pokemon.

The next pier over is the dock for the Royal Unova, open only in the evening.  It contains a number of trainers based on the day of the week, with Monday being one and Sunday being seven, who you have to defeat in a row to receive a prize- they’re all odd healing items.  It costs 1000 Poke to take the challenge, and you can only take it in the evening, but the rewards are useful- particularly the RageCandyBar and Rare Candy- so make sure you at least show up here on Saturday and Sunday evenings.  Monday, Wednesday, and Friday bring you the Lava Cookie status-healing item from the Ruby-Sapphire-Emerald games, Tuesday will net you a Berry Juice 20 HP healing item just like you can get off of a Shuckle, Thursday will let you grab an Old Gateau (essentially a fancy Full Heal), Saturday is marked by the RageCandyBar- useful for getting a form-changing Darmanitan- from the Black/White generation, and Sundays will let you win the ever-important Rare Candy.

The central pier is where you just arrived to begin with, so there’s nothing new here.

To the left of your arrival pier is a dock with two people on it- the woman wandering around mutters about fate and then hands you a Destiny Knot, which is really only useful if you get hit with Attract a whole lot.  The other woman here is standing watch over a ship that goes to Unity Tower, but you can’t get on that right now.

The last dock, all the way to the left, has three people on it.  They’ll talk about some guy who apparently hid Victini in his garden, but nothing terribly important, and the man by the boat there will take you to Liberty Garden, which is really only notable if you have Victini yourself.  If you don’t, it’s at best a neat historical artefact.
