You’ll soon run into the scientist again on the left, who mutters about smokestacks and waste gas, then scampers off again.  Ignore him for the most part and head further into the complex- you’ll soon reach a lowered area with grass and benches.  The blonde woman here will give you some free Great Balls if you’ve filled the Habitat List in your Pokedex for the complex area, so make sure you’ve rooted around in the grass a bit before leaving.  The brunette here, though, is more interested in battling you.

Battle: Lass Daya (360 Poke)
Opponent: Woobat Lv 13

The scientist can be found here again as well, staring at the large round gas containers.  He waxes enthusiastic about them and the complex, then notes that you’ve listened to him all three times.  Immediately drawing the conclusion that you two are now bosom buddies, the scientist gives you an Ether for the trouble, and then heads off.

Now that you’ve done all there is to do in the complex, head back to the entrance and see the bald guy- he gives you TM 94, which contains Rock Smash- a move that is useful both for breaking open paths in the world and for crushing anything weak to Fighting attacks in battle, no matter how tough its physical defense.  This is the last thing you can get from the Virbank Complex for now.

Finally, it’s time to hit the central area of Virbank and locate what looks like a cramped little shack- this is the Pokemon Gym, so head on in.  The Gym, it turns out, is underground- which explains the dinky appearance on the street.  Curiously, the Gym is also a rock club, and you can hear a band going at it inside even as you descend the stairs.  Clyde is here again, and he explains to you that while Roxie and her band are practicing, you should go ahead in anyways- and he gifts you another Fresh Water to ‘stay hydrated’.  He then warns you- this is a Poison focused gym, so Grass and Bug attacks are at a disadvantage- as are Grass-type pokemon.  Worse, while Poison pokemon will hit you with the Poison status and drain your HP, they can’t be afflicted with the same in return.  Be ready to rush back to the Pokemon Center, particularly if you didn’t choose to use Riolo and even moreso if you started with Snivy.

Also, stop to talk to the thug nearby- he’ll mention Roxy’s poison and that he went to the Complex nearby and picked up a Magnemite since Steel-type pokemon are immune to poison.  Then he’ll encourage you to do the same and pass you some Poke Balls.
