As you head on after swiping the kid’s pocket change, a voice calls out for you to wait- and Cheren and Hugh show up behind you.  Cheren tells both of you to come with him, and leads you to the nearby patch of grass.  Pointing it out, he asks you to notice how much darker it is than the other tall grass you’ve seen so far.  Cheren explains that not only does dark grass sometimes produce two pokemon at the same time, the pokemon hiding in it tend to be a bit stronger than you will find in the lighter-colored tall grass in the area.

His caution given, Cheren explains that the next Gym to challenge is the Virbank Gym, and gives you some Pecha Berries, which he says may help.  He also gives Hugh a handful and tells both of you to do your best, and that you can call him on the Xtransciever anytime.  Turning, he heads back to Aspertia, leaving Hugh to muse over the depth of the Gym Leader’s knowledge, and comment that he fought some Team Plasma thugs as well.

Hugh tells you that he’s decided to get stronger than Cheren, and encourages you to do your best so you can fill up the Pokedex you were given and have his back.  He then steps into the dark grass, presumably to find a challenge.  You’ll want to step in too, even if you’re not interested in seeing what’s lurking, because there’s a Great Ball sitting there just a few feet from Hugh.  Other than that, though, there’s not much here- the tall grass offers no pokemon you haven’t had a chance to run into before, although their levels are a bit higher, in the 9-11 range.

There’s a small river shore to the right, though without anything to do on it at the moment, and another tiny kid who will challenge you to a battle.

Battle: Preschooler Lin (40 Poke)
Opponent: Lillipup Lv 10

The preschooler is at the bottom of some stairs leading up the hill to the Northeast, which is where you want to head.  The first level of the hill has an Antidote in the grass to the right, and after grabbing that you’ll want to head around to the West side of the hill.  There you can encounter another trainer- a Nursery Aide.

Battle: Nursery Aide Kimya (440 Poke)
Opponent: Dunsparce Lv 11

Have a bit of care with her Dunsparce- while the thing isn’t too impressive, it’s rather tough and has Defense Curl to pump that up.  Kimya has a penchant for hitting Pursuit when you try to switch, as well.
