After giving you basic instructions on the use of the C-Gear and how to operate its Help function, Bianca asks you what you intend to do next- and points out that Virbank City, past Floccesy Town, has another pokemon Gym.
Take this opportunity to stop by the Pokemon Center and patch up your team from the Gym battle before moving on. The Medal Man is waiting in here as well, so you might as well poke him and receive a double-fistful of additional medals. After that, it’s time to head North to Route 19 again. Once more, you cross the grass here to the right, though for once Alder doesn’t jump down from above to talk to you.
When you reach the end of Floccesy Town and move to head out, Bianca calls out from behind you and runs up, apologizing. Apparently, she forgot to upgrade your Pokedex, and tells you she’s going to add the Habitat List feature to it. As she puts the feature into your Pokedex, she tells you that it will let you know what pokemon are in the area where you are, and can be found by using its own button just after you open the Pokedex. You can then pick the area you want to look at and it will tell you which pokemon are found there, and which of those you’ve already caught. She also offers you a tip- the rustling grass you can sometimes see as you walk down a path.... contains surprises!
Having given you the useful Pokedex feature and a not-so-useful tip, Bianca encourages you to fill your Pokedex, then heads back the way she came.
This frees you to move along. Head the same way you did before, across the bridge and then North- then take a right turn where you see the Hiker. This time, he exclaims over your badge and warns you that the world out there is a bit rough. He then insists on demonstrating this by battling you!
Battle: Hiker Jerome (160 Poke)
Opponent: Riolu Lv 11
Once you beat him he tells you he couldn’t possibly stand in your way after that, and moves off to wait by the side of the path. At last you can now head down the stairs here, and move along in the world. The first thing you find at the bottom of the stairway is a little kid running back and forth, who declares himself the strongest Trainer in the local preschool, and insists on demonstrating.
Battle: Preschooler Albert (40 Poke)
Opponent: Psyduck Lv 10
