Because of this, he’d rather ask you to give him a hand than train you (implying that you don’t need it anymore).  He then heads into his house, clearly expecting you to follow.  You should probably take a moment to restore your Pokemon at the Pokemon Center first, but after that, go back to his house.

Before you enter Alder’s house, you’ll want to check the little paths to either side- the left path contains an X Speed, which while not terribly useful is still worth a little bit of spare pocket Poke if you need more cash later.  The right path leads to a new area where you can look at a massive and scarred rock- but not much else.  It is still interesting, anyways, and will become important later.

With both paths explored, return to Alder’s house and enter.

On your entry, you see two young children.  The girl, on the left, asks Alder if you’ve been brought for them to help you train.  The boy seems less confident, pointing out that you already seem to be pretty strong.  Alder agrees that you’re tough, but points out that the children can learn something from losing also.  He considers it even more important, though, that he’s been telling them to just enjoy Pokemon battles.

With that, the redeheaded man turns to you and requests that you be their opponent.

The boy steps forwards, declaring that he’ll show you what’s cool about his pokemon.

Battle: School Kid Seymour (180 Poke)
Opponent: Pan (weak to your starter) Lv 9.

Once you beat the boy, Alder congratulates you both on a good battle, and asks the girl if she’s ready.  She enthusiastically steps forwards as Alder heals your pokemon back to perfect condition, declaring that some matchups are determined by the types of the pokemon involved.

Battle: Lass Cassie (180 Poke)
Opponent: Pan (strong against your starter) Lv 9.
