Intro
This game has history with me, one of the few games me and my siblings could play a bit. Playing as the duo Mickey and Minnie, you’re after Pete to stop his no good ways.
Story
Mickey heard a mysterious voice calling for help. Being the famous explorer he is, with Minnie, the pair set off to rescue this mysterious voice from the clutches of the unknown captor!
Gameplay
This game has things that honestly aren’t too hard to abuse in places. Minnie is immune to enemy’s damage, having her with the ability to shoot stars in places almost breaks the game. With people who work well together, this game becomes notably easier, or at least there will be stretches that the second player makes it ridiculously easy to play. Still, it was a game I actually played with my siblings, so that makes this game hold a special place in my heart. Ah, the days when the NES was the height of video game technology.
Multiplayer
It exists, just not very refined. I think it’s more incidental than anything. Using the controls, the players control the duo, unfortunately at the same time. This isn’t exactly the best thing no matter how you look at it. It creates a lot of problems of people aren’t too sure about what the other is doing.
Controls
Move, jump, shoot. They work. With two controllers, as mentioned earlier, you can work with a friend to get through the game. It really could have been better in that regard.
Graphics
Are very smooth and well done. It’s easy to see that people took time with them. They are smooth without the annoying too much. Still, it was the NES, so doing give it too much grief.
Sound Effects & Music
The music is the better of the pair for sure. The sound effects get on one’s nerves without too much effort in the longer run I noticed. Just how the jump sounds again and again and again unfortunately wears one down.
Obscurity
It isn’t very common to have played, if somewhat easier to find. It’s a game that someone should play if they get the chance. Especially if someone is a Mickey Mouse Fan. It’s a good game with a fair bit of character.
Summary/Author’s Take
For the young child I was, it was a great game. Playing it again being much older, I found it only slightly less enjoyable. The nostalgia had to face the changed reality of how the game worked. Still, I found myself compelled to play it for all it was worth and to the best of my ability.
