Guild Wars 2 – Fall of Falcon Company
This is the Questline for those humans who chose that their dead sister was their big regret. It begins simply enough with you heading to meet Logan Thackeray who has news for you. Head up to his office in Seraph HQ where you can talk with him and get treated to a cinematic:
Logan Thackeray: “Good to see you again, my friend. You have excellent timing. Have you ever heard of Falcon Company?”
Hero: “Falcon Company?” Of course I have. One of the most decorated units of Seraph, wiped out by a centaur ambush. My sister was a soldier in that command.”
Logan: “Your sister? I'm sorry to hear that . I … I didn't know. You'll be even more interested in this information than I thought. Scouts in the Queen's Forest discovered pages torn from an old journal. They were apparently written by Willem Harrinton, a member of Falcon Company. The writing on the pages is rough. Hasty. But it describes survivors of the battle taken prisoner by the centaurs.”
Hero: “Survivors? My sister could be alive? Logan, you've got to let me investigate. I need to know what happened to Deborah.”
Logan: “I thought you'd feel that way. Let's update my records, then you can head to Eldvin Monstery and speak with Captain Tervelan. Though he's been promoted to Captain of Queensdale, Tervelan once commanded Falcon Company. He might be able to tell us more.”
After the cinematic he has a question for your character. He wants to know the lineage of your sister. This will determine what she looks like. The choices are:
“Yes. We're both Kyrtan.”
“No, my sister and I trace our lineage to Elona.”
“Actually, we're of Canthan Descent.”
“Ascalonian, sir, and proud of it.”
Choose whichever you would like then it is off to the Monastery. Head into the instance. Once inside, head up to the right past the gate guard. Once on top of the wall head to South and to the marker showing where the Captain is. Approach him for another cinematic:
Captain Tervelan: “You must be the hero Thackeray warned me about. He says you're investigating the Falcons? That true?”
Hero: “Yes. Captain Thackeray said you'd help me. Have you heard anything about the Centaurs taking prisoners?”
Tervelan: “Thackeray's been swaddled inside the royal court for too long. He's forgotten how rough it is out here. You've wasted a trip. Falcon Company is long gone. My Grenth have mercy on their souls. Go home, kid. You're in over –”
Lieutenant Gordon: “Centaurs! At the north gate! Get the monks inside! To arms!”
Tervelan: “Right on schedule. C'mon, hero. You're about to learn what it's like outside the city gates. To the north gate! After you.”
Head down to the Courtyard and engage the centaurs. They are numerous but you have a lot of help to get through it. Use Area Attacks where possible to draw the threat or to wipe out a weakened group. You need to fight through 2 waves of centaurs then their leader will come forward to challenge you by name.
This centaur, Hruud the Reaver, is a bit tougher than the others. He is a melee combatant though so deal with him accordingly. Just take some time to defeat him. When that is done, head back to the Captain. He insist that he cannot spare any men but he will send one squad with you to investigate the nearby centaur camp.
Head over to the East to the marker from the Northern Entrance of the Monastery. It is a short run and relatively safe. As you approach the marker you will want to head into the small ravine that leads toward the cave opposed to going up the slope. This will get you to your squad: Sergeant Bigsby. Talk with him to learn what you can about this mission and a little more about Falcon Company.
With Bigsby the idea is the pair of you to enter the Centaur camp, smash the weapon racks and kill Mallus the Impure. Head forward into the cave to enter the camp. You will have some resistance as you head forward through the camp. The first weapon rack is hard to miss as it is straight ahead to the right. The second is straight ahead from the entrance. You will deal with a small group of centaurs as you attack the second rack. Head around the cage to the left to find the remaining racks in this part of the camp. Destroy all of them. Be sure to also head into that cage and look on the ground there. You will find a weathered journal there that has records from the Screaming Falcons.
Now turn to the right. You have more centaurs and a few more racks to get through. Look into the small conclave to the right to find 3 more racks that are very easy to overlook. After you destroy these and a few more you will be prompted to fight Mallus the Impure.
Mallus the Impure is another Warrior type. Deal with him plus any centaurs and rock dogs that he brought to the fight to bring this part to an end.
After all that you get another cinematic:
Bigsby: “The only reason I followed you in there was because you're you. I didn't think we'd survive, but you were great! Hey, what did you find?”
Hero: “A soldier's journal, half-buried in the cage. It has the Falcon Company insignia on it and a list of survivors inside. My sister's name is there. Deborah.”
Bigsby: “I thought Captain Tervelan said there were no survivors.”
Hero: “Tervelan may be lying to cover his tracks. The book accuses him of setting the company up to be attacked by centaurs.”
Bigsby: “I … I don't know what to think. Tervelan, a traitor? You don't think he sent us out here alone to die, do you? He hasn't been happy with me lately.”
Hero: “It's a distinct possiblity. But don't worry, Bigsby. We'll get to the bottom of this – together.”
Deal with any remaining centuars and then talk with Bigsby and you will come to a choice in this storyline. You can either head back to talk with Logan (“Seek Logan's Aid”) or talk with Tervelan (“Confronting Captain Tervelan”). The choice is yours.
