To begin with, he points out, the races of the Alliance aid one another regardless of which race they are- and you are expected to do the same. Regardless of race, you are to help all others from the Alliance. He inquires if you understand, calling the guideline ‘simple’- and Aysa accedes to the direction.
He then explains that this connects to his next point. Not all pandaren, he says, have sided with the Alliance- and those who work with the Horde must be treated as your sworn enemies. Even if they were once companions, family, or lovers, you are not to ‘fraternize’ with them at all, as he is unwilling to expose the Alliance to such dangers. He asks if this is clear, and gets a much more hesitant affirmation from Aysa before turning to head into the center of the garden.
Arriving, he stops, and says that he is nearly finished. He will wait there as long as you will wait, ready with the completion of your quest to listen to the man.
This brings you to another quest- An Old Pit Fighter. He explains that he is more than just a king, and spent some time fighting with other prisoners while he was in captivity. He continues that he needs to know if you can fight, particularly so that he knows if you can protect his kingdom. He has heard stories, he says, of Pandaren fighting techniques, but not seen them in person- and thus, he wishes to spar with you.
This quest is fairly simple: While Varian is almost impossible to hit, he does nothing other than stand there and wait- well, that and taunt you to try and hit him. Aysa warns caution, but after enough tries you will hit him- and all you will do is knock him on his back. Aysa and Jojo, however, are shocked, worried about the consequences of your hitting the man.
Laughing, the king enthuses over your fighting spirit as he returns to his feet, explaining that he’s been in worse fights, and tells you it’s time to get down to business- then runs off to his throne, leaving you to follow despite Jojo and Aysa being completely agog at your striking the King. They will still follow you of course, as you return to the throne room.
Varian tells you that you’ve proven your worth and then some, and explains that while few would be willing to leave their home to join the Alliance, it is even less common to find one who would face the King in combat. He welcomes you and any other Pandaren who wish to join the Alliance.
Thus ends the starting questline for a Pandaren in the Alliance, leaving you free to your own devices in Stormwind with Aysa and Jojo vanishing off to wherever they’ve gone.
