On choosing the Alliance, you are treated to a short cutscene of your hot-air balloon leaving Shen-zin’s shell, a nice overview of the landscape of the turtle’s back. Afterwards, you are dropped in the Valley of Heroes, the entrance to Stormwind Castle. Here you also will find Jojo Stonebrow and Aysa Cloudsinger- the latter of whom holds your quest: Joining the Alliance. She tells you that it is your responsibility- shared with her- to spread the Tushui philosophy, and what better place to begin than the capital of the Alliance?
Your goal is to find and speak with King Varian Wrynn in the main Keep.
The other two will follow you across the bridge, where Aysa greets General Hammond Clay and requests audience with the Alliance Emperor. Hammond corrects her that she seeks the King, and gives Jojo’s pillar a bit of the hairy eyeball before admonishing you to ‘behave’ within the Alliance territory. Clearly, he has less than a stellar opinion of pandaren.
As the two follow you further into Stormwind, Aysa finds more things to exclaim over- like the Hero’s Board, which she remarks on as a good way to ensure you don’t run out of things to do. Various locals will also comment, particularly on your being pandaren (though a pair of children mistake you variously for gnolls and furbolg.). Stormwind is thankfully laid out in a rather simple manner- on arriving at the Hero’s Board, you’ll want to take a right turn and head around or through the next district over- the Keep itself can be found off to the Northeast, at the end of one of the great canals that crisscross the city like a half a ‘pound’ symbol.
On arriving, you’ll need to climb a few stairs, passing around the side of a large fountain that has thank fully replaced some of the original and rather dull extremely long corridor. At the top of the remaining corridor is the throne room, where nobody seems to have anything to say- except for King Varian Wrynn, who waits there for you to complete your quest. Varian comments that he only recently found out that any Pandaren might be joining the Alliance, but he is glad to call you ally if you are willing to join your cause to those of the Alliance. He then requests that you walk with him.
Varian directs that all three of you go with him, and slowly walks away from his throne, towards the Keep’s garden. He begins to circumnavigate the garden as he talks. He explains that he understands your desire to join the Alliance, and that he would have to have taken leave of his senses to refurse the offer of help, particularly during war- but there are a few things he wants to make especially clear. Aysa speaks for you, assenting to listen to what King Varian has to say.
