Ji, present at the camp as expected, also has a quest for you- while he’s not sure what the evil in the forest is, or why it’s there, he has his usual straightforwards method of dealing with it: kill it to death. In exchange for a new pair of boots, he wants you to kill 8 of the Darkened Horrors and Darkened Terrors lurking around the area where the ship crashed. There is of course the usual sum of silver coins and experience to be awarded as well, but the boots are the more significant part of the reward at the moment, allowing you to continue steadily replacing your gear as you go along.
This pair of quests is pretty straightforwards- the Horrors and Terrors are obvious, and if you’re really patient and don’t want to move around you can just lurk in the little camp and wait for them to attack every so often, eventually racking up the needed kills. This takes some time though, and requires that you manage to jump them before the guards posted around the camp can kill them in retaliation. On the upside, this also means that they steadily spawn and head towards the camp, specifically along the dirt road leading South to the wreckage. Because of this, you can simply head along that road and be quite guaranteed of enough of the beasties to kill in mortal combat.
The explosives are slightly harder- they come in tiny little bundles, and if you’ve got your camera zoomed out much, clicking them can be a bit of a pain. These too are easier and more frequent to find nearer the ship, but remain a bit touchy as they tend to appear next to the bases of bamboo stands or within piles of flotsam and jetsam from the crashing ship. What’s more, they tend to be guarded by the various Horrors and Terrors, but not all of the lizardthings are actually guarding clusters of explosives, so it takes a bit of examination to locate the things even when they are glittering at you.
Either way, though, it shouldn’t take all that long- the overall area where both goals can be found is actually quite large and it is thus rare that the predations of other players will leave you unable to get ahold of what you need for the completion of both quests. Once you’ve managed your killing and looting, it’s time to head back to the camp and talk to Ji and Makael.
