Korga also has a quest for you- ‘Stocking Stalks’.  He explains that since the crash and the lack of supplies, his men are starving, hurt, and tired- however, being Horde, they have all the will to survive they will ever need.  Since you are willing to help, they will stand by you- but they will do a better job of it if they have weapons to wield.

Fortunately, this is a bamboo forest, and the springy plants lend themselves fairly well to making spears.  The Horde crew are out gathering bamboo to craft into weapons, but it would be very helpful of you to gather some as well- and so you have this quest, which requires that you gather 10 Broken Bamboo Stalks.  Frankly, it’s likely that the bamboo can be used as spears without any other items at all- bamboo that has been filed off at an angle is a rather traditional trap material as an effective form of spikes in pits, floors, and ceilings.  There will probably be some issues with the things splintering, though.

Both the tigers and the stalks can be found without wandering very far at all from the hillock with the hut, so it shouldn’t take you long to pull things together.

While the tigers roam at will around the jungle, the bamboo can be found at the bases of the larger bamboo plants.  They will look like nearly-conical sections of bamboo sticking up from the ground just next to the roots of permanent bamboo plants, and are colored a variety of shades of brown and green.  They come in two shapes- some are longer than you are tall and slightly curved, tapering gradually.  Others are slightly shorter than you and much thicker, never really getting narrower than your arm.  Often you’ll find two or three around the bottom of a cluster of unbroken bamboo, so take your time and check all sides of the bamboo stands.  This will also give you more chances to run across tigers.

The tigers pose very little threat to you- while their pounce attack is a bit annoying as it may require you to turn or reposition yourself in order to continue attacking, they do not have enough damage-dealing ability to really accomplish much in a fight against you singly.  If you should find a small family of them, asleep, generally you’re best ignoring them and going around- it’s not worth the trouble, and it won’t get you done any faster at this level, regardless of your class.

On returning, you can give Korga the stalks of bamboo that you have gathered, and let Wei know that you’ve killed enough of the tigers.  Each of them rewards you with a few silver and some words of encouragement and solidarity.
