The Evolution of Eevee – Black and White Version 2: Leafeon

Leafeon
Pokedex Entry
Nation: #470, Unova: #97
“With cells similar to those of plants, it performs photosynthesis inside its body and creates pure air.”

Leafeon was introduced in the Fourth Generation of Pokemon games. It was one of the numerous Pokemon whose evolution depended upon location. While it did suffer from some gaps in being able to evolve in the games that followed, Black and White Version 2 make it possible to acquire all the Eevee evolutions in one game again. Just have an Eevee level up in the Pinwheel Forest and it should evolve into Leafeon. If not, head over to the Southwest Corner and approach the Mossy Rock. That will ensure its proper evolution.

Leafeon proves to be a very interesting evolution of Eevee. It has the statistics to be a solid physical sweeper with decent Speed and a solid Physical Attack. While it does not learn Leaf Blade, its most powerful move until Lvl. 45, it gets a few to hold it over until then. Within the metagame it one of many Grass Types who can switch between offense and defense depending on how they are grown.  Many will say it did not get the great grass-type moves, but it also has access to Aerial Ace which can be surprisingly effective on any Swords Dance build of this Pokemon. The addition of Chrolophyll as a hidden ability makes it much better as Physical Sweeper on a Sunny Day Team. While it does not seem a great choice, it has the Physical Defense to be a decent wall, if not for its pure Grass-type and lower HP.

Unlocking the Hidden Abilities:
With the addition of the Dream World, it has become possible for all of the forms of Eevee to unlock a hidden ability of their own. If one of the rare Female Eevees has its hidden ability unlocked, then it can be bred and it can be passed on. If not, then you must use the Dream World. Log in and send the desired Eevee into the Dream World. Have it play the “Play to Befriend a Pokemon” game. This will unlock the hidden ability when the Pokemon wakes from its sleep.

Abilities:
Leaf Guard – Prevents the Pokemon from receiving status conditions during strong sunlight

Hidden Ability:
Chlorophyll – While in strong sunlight, the Pokemon's speed doubles.
