Victoriously, you raise the mallet- and strike twice!  The gong rings loudly...

...and Wugou snorts and continues to sleep.  Ji sighs at this.

Disappointed, the monk tells you that he was expecting the noise, but not that it would have no effect on Wugou.  He has another idea, though.  Since it doesn’t require nearly the amount of work to get it ready, he considers it quite a good one.

Ji mentions that he was already thinking about what might work if the gong didn’t- and he realized that water in the face always woke him up right quick.  Given Wugou’s dry, earthy nature, he expects that to work even better.  Of course, you’re going to need someone to splash Wugou, and who better than Shu?  Thankfully, Ji points out that Shu is playing in the waterfall just beyond a nearby tree, so you should be able to coax him over to splash Wugou without much difficulty.

The tree in question is the one just behind the gong, and there you can indeed find Shu, playing with waterspouts in the pool at the bottom of the waterfall.

Requesting Shu’s assistance politely does indeed get his attention- the spirit immediately heads over to Ji and Wugou, and douses the earth spirit (and the entire area) with a rather large ball of water.  This finally rousts Wugou, who chases the water spirit around the gong once, then the two of them both rejoin you, following your motions.

Ji cheers your victory in waking the Earth Spirit, and then tells you to take the two spirits back to the Temple of Five Dawns, whose name makes a lot more sense, given the five spirits involved with it.  It’s time to head back to the temple- there is a cart nearby waiting to take you there, but you can always return on foot if you like.

Again, this one is up to your personal preference.  While the cart is certainly faster, going by foot can garner you a little more Profession resources, and will give you a better chance to explore Mandori Village, just South of the Temple.  This is a good place to sell unwanted items, pick up food if you feel like it, train your Professions, and set a Soulstone so you have a ‘home’ to return to with it.

When you reach the temple, head right on in- Master Shang Xi and Huo are both waiting there for you.  You’ll need to speak to Master Shang, who compliments you on a job well done and mentions that three of the four necessary spirits have been gathered.  He also gives you a fresh set of bracers to replace the ones you’ve been using so far.
