Guild Wars 2 – Drawing Out the Cult

This is the third mission in the Unknown Parents storyline for human. This shows the mission for those who chose to side with Logan Thackeray and went to attack the White Mantle head-on.

Head out to the starting point by Gnashar's Hills. You will find it to the just outside of the crossover from Queensdale. Simply head forward toward Sojourner's Way and you will be prompted to enter the instance.

Head down the slope and to the Southwest. There you will find Logan Thackeray with his gathered forces and those of the Shining Blade. Approach him and talk to get things moving along into the starting cutscene:
Logan Thackeray: “Looks like this combined Seraph-Shining Blade Strike team is ready to go. We just need somebody to start things off.”
Hero: “They abused the memory of my parents and tried to kill me. I want first crack at them.”
Exemplar Salia: “I know you're angry, but we can't alert them to our attack before it begins.”
Logan: “Don't discount righteous anger so readily, Exemplar. The White Mantle will bolt if they see us. But one angry civilian, especially one they want dead? They'll stay and fight. We'll have a company of guards waiting and trebuchets set to fire. The Seraph will be ready.”
Exemplar Mehid: “Very well Captain. We'll play it your way. But as soon as they move a move, we'll be there.”
Hero: “Just be ready to move quickly. If you wait too long, there may not be any White Mantle left for you to fight.”

Head over to the East now to the marked point. It is time to go taunt the Cultists (aka the White Mantle) and get them to come after you. At the mark is Inquisitor Torbon:
Inquisitor Torbon: “You look lost, citizen. And if you're not lost, you should get lost. You're not welcome here.”
Hero: “But I'm selling little jade mursaat statues. I enchanted the stone so that they weep weep and wet themselves when you mention Queen Salma.”
Torbon: “What did you say? Hey everyone – gather around and listen to this idiot's last words!”
Hero: “Just that the mursaat were a bunch of pointy-toed bed-wetters. The White Mantle must have been desperate to worship such laughable 'gods.'”
Torbon: “We'll hang you from a tree and let the birds strip you down to the bare bones, one peck at a time.”
Hero: “Good to know. It makes what I'm about to do even more satisfying.”

After you have about 6 Bandit Cutpurses and Engineers waiting on the other side of a roadblock. Shortly after the end of the cutscene an explosion will take care of the roadblock. Most of them are Lvl. 17, but they are thinned down nicely from that first explosion. Get through the first horde and move on to the East. The rest of what you are fighting will be Lvl. 16. Let the blasts do their work to make your a lot easier.

Once you make it Jannaj's Bandit camp you will find another mass of bandits to sort through. Heavy Armor does not have as much to worry about but medium will need to be careful while Light Armored will need to be very cautious. It is a long fight to get through to the Inquisitor so be ready. The waves blend together and there are more than enough to make it hard to count them all. When you can, revive downed Seraph and Shining Blade members as they will be a big help with the fight overall.

Once you make it through the second, huge mass, then Inquisitor Torbon will reveal himself with a few more guards. The Inquisitor himself is Lvl 18 and in Heavy Armor, expect him to take some time to go down. Take out the guards then focus on him. He will go down easily enough after the rest of the fight. It moves onto a cutscene to finish out the rest of the mission:
Logan: “Well done, everyone.”
Hero: “But still no answers. Do I have to sift through the ashes of every White Mantle hideout in Kyrta to find out what they know about my parents.”
Mehid: “That shouldn't be necessary. Now that the operation is over, I can tell you the good news. Salia and I found the last known residence of your parents.”
Hero: “Really? Can you show me the way? If Countess Anise can spare you for a personal pursuit, that is. Maybe I can find something useful there.”
Salia: “After this victory, I'm sure the countess won't object to us helping you with this. The location is south of the Delarian Foothills. We'll meet you there.”
Logan: “Go on, and good luck. I hope you find what you're looking for. After everything you've done for Kryta, you deserve some good news.”

Talk with Logan after to add either some Dignity or Ferocity. After that, it is onto the final mission in this storyline, “Ashes of the Past.”
