Guild Wars 2 – A Spy for A Spy

This is the second mission in the Ash Legion Storyline for the Charr. You are to find, infiltrate, cause some havoc and learn their plans and extract yourself from a Flame Legion encampment.

Head on out from the Black Citadel and go to the Northwest, to the Western edge of Lake Feritas. You will find the entrance to the instance at the base of the steps leading up from the lake.

Once inside the instance head on up the steps to the North. You are now disguised as one of the Flame Legion. Head into the cave for a quick cutscene:
Flame Legion Sentry: “Give me the password, or I'll give you a second smile just below your chin.”
Hero: “Back off. The password's 'Burntsoul.' You should be less jumpy. It's bad for your health to twitch like that.”
Sentry: “Don't tell me my business, especially not before a big attack. Hurry up and get in there before you miss the briefing.”

With that sorted, head inside and to the North. You will notice the gathering in front of you by the fire. That is where you can to go. You overhear something about both Blood and Iron Legion, who have never truly gotten along.

With the briefing finished you need to question 2 people in here. One a Blood Legion Imposter, the other an Iron Legion Imposter. They are both marker on the map. The Iron will head to the Northwest while the Blood will head to the Southeast. The Iron Legion imposter will tell you:
Iron Legion Imposter: “What do you want?”
Hero: “I'm infiltrating the Iron Legion. I need to be briefed.”
Imposter: “You want a detailed briefing? Prove you know your basics. Name of the of Iron Legion's Tribunes.”
Hero A) “Bhuer Goreblade” - Correct
Hero B) “How should I know that? Fine, I'll guess. Rytlock Brimstone” - Wrong, will get another chance, as he is Blood Legion.
Hero C) “Torga Desertgrave” - Wrong, she is Ash Legion. Again, you can try again.
Imposter A) “That's right. So you passed the first test. You're still a long way from passing for Iron.”
Hero: “That's why I need your help. Tell me the plan and I'll fool Bhuer himself.”
Imposter: “Blood's new centurion is Volante Tornpaw. She's young – and female – but don't underestimate Blood Legion. Her assassination will stir up her legion like a firebrand in a devourer nest. So we dress as Iron Legion, kill Volante, and Iron takes the blame. It's genius!”

Head to the Southeast and talk with the Blood Legion Imposter with a variety of personality choices:
Blood Legion Imposter: “Who are you? Some scrapper out to join the winning legion before it's too late?”
Hero A) “That idiot sentry held me up. Quit being a jerk and tell me what I missed.” - Increases ferocity
Hero B) “This mission is too important to waste time. Please, what did I miss?” - Increases Dignity
Hero C) “It's that sentry's fault I'm late. You look smart … tell me what I missed.” - Increases Charisma
Imposter: “It's not that easy, soldier. You have to work for the answers. Let's see if you've got what it takes to pass for a Bloodie. Come on – fight me.”

Take him on. He ha a two-handed sword but cannot fight very well at all. Just beat him black and blue. Once you get him below half he will give and tell you the plan:
Imposter: “I give, I give! Baelfire's caws, you're tough! Glad you're on our side. The plan's simple. We pose as Blood Legion and break Iron Legion's precious new siege engine. We frame Blood, watch Iron attack them, and the whole citadel will be claw to throat. Then we strike.”

After that, report back to the Flame Legion Centurion:
Centurion: “Eyeballing me is a dangerous habit. What do you want?”
Hero: “I've been briefed on the operation, sir. Looking forward to it. Can you tell me more?”
Centurion: “Thanks to Tybulus Griefblade's hard work and cunning – Iron fights Blood, Blood fights Iron, and the winner is … Flame. Get ready to move out.”
Hero: “Sir, yes, sir!”

He will recap everything quickly then leave. You still have one thing left to do. Head  to the East and find the Blood Legion Prisoner: Yahuk Fellstrike:
Yahuk Fellstrike: “You're wasting your time, Flame freak. Torture me all you want; I won't talk. I like pain. In fact, pain makes me purr.”
Hero: “Quiet. I'm not with the Flame Legion. And I'm not here to torture you.”
Yahuk: “Great! Get me out of here. They're going to kill me – slowly. And that's my least favorite way of getting killed.”
Hero: “I'll get you out. Where's the key?”
Yahuk: “The jailer has it. But it's chaos wit the big attack looming. There's new order coming down all the time. Soldiers running around like moas with their heads cut off.”
Hero: “The chaos might help. Sit tight and stay low.”

Head over to the right where you will find the Jailer just standing around. He has a few words to say first:
Flame Legion Head Jailer: “Watch it. You're in my territory now. What do you want?”
Hero: “I've got new orders from the centurion regarding this prisoner.”
Jailer: “More new orders? This is crazy. The right paw doesn't know what the left paw is doing. What is it this time?”
Hero A) “I'm taking over here. Give me your keys. Now.” - Increases Ferocity
Hero B) “The centurion appreciates all your hard work. He sent me to relieve you.” - Increases Charisma
Hero C) “Routine security check. Standard rotation. I'll cover your station.” - Increases Dignity

Whichever you choose, he will buy it. He will tell you to watch the prisoner carefully, as he is a tricky one, as all Elementalists are. Head back to the cell and talk with Yahuk:
Yaruk: “I hope you're taking me with you this time. It's a much better rescue if you take the rescuee with you.”
Hero: “Quiet. I've got the key. Once I take care of the guards, we're home free.”
Yaruk: “Wait! These devils tortured me and kill my whole warband. If there's fighting to be done, I want a piece of them before I go.”
Hero: “Okay. I hope all this time in the cage hasn't made you rusty.”

As soon a things are ready, it is right onto fighting. There are 4 Flame Legion guards of a small variety. All of them are Lvl. 3 so nothing too bad compared to you. Tear them a new one quickly with Yaruk's help. After those are deal, Yaruk mentions that they were only the first squad. Apparently the second one is not as easy to defeat. This second group is another trio of Flame Legion (two melee and one ranged) who came at your small party. They are Lvl. 4, so a bit tougher. Lay into them hard and it will not be too long before they are down a well. They have a little back up as well. When they go down a Shadowblade will appear (Lvl. 3) who activates the nearby turrets. You need to destroy all of them.

Once you have the Flame Legion Head Jailer will appear again. Apparently something in the jig is up. Just kill him already and get out of there:
Hero: “Ugh! Feels good to be out of that Flame Legion disguise.”
Yaruk: “You look much better now. Blood of Khan-Ur, you saved my life.”
Hero: “I wish I could've done the same for your warband”
Yaruk: “The Flame Legion wanted the citadel watch roster, and killed my friends one by one to get it. I was next.”
Hero: “I hear you. Ghost and incompetence slaughtered most of my 'band. But you don't have to be a gladium. Throw in your lot with us.”
Yaruk: “Gladly. I owe you my life. Just promise me that we'll pave the citadel's streets in Flame Legion carcasses.”
Hero: Count on it. For now, get to safety. A warband member is outside. Wave; say you're with me. They'll get you to the citadel. I'll meet you there when I'm done.”

All that is done, then it is time head back to the Black Citadel and report in to Desertgrave at the Junker's Scrapyard. It is found in the Southwestern part of the Black Citadel. Head on into the instance. Just go up the ramp and you will find Sicaea from the Serrated Blade. She will lead you to Torga. Once you approach the group then it is cutscene:
Hero: “Hail, Tribune! I have information. Flame Legion is going to trick Blood and Iron, making each think the other attacked them. If the plan works, it might break the citadel's alliance. They're targeting Iron's new weapon and a Blood Legion Centurion. The thing was cooked up by someone named Tybuluis Griefblade.”
Sicaea: “I know the name 'Griefblade.' He's real trouble. Blood and Iron need to know now, so they can prepare.”
Torga: “No. This is an Ash operation. Blood and Iron will make a drake's breakfast out it. We'll handle it ourselves. The legionnaire will take one mission; Fengar can handle the other.”
Siceae: “Fengar? Tribune, Fengar's not experienced enough for something this big. I'll do –”
Torga: “No. Sicaea, your orders are to track down Griefblade. Fengar, you've finally got your chance for field duty. Now, Legionnaire. You brought the intel, so we'll make it your call: guard Iron's new engine or Blood's centurion? Decide, and move out.”

Time to choose: Choosing to aid the Blood Legion gives you the mission: “Spilled Blood” while aiding the Iron Legion gives you the mission: “Iron Grip on the Legion.” The choice is yours.
