54 – Canalave City To Lake Valor

With your return to Canaclave City, head back to the library. Your rival will let you in and you can head up the stairs just in front of you to reach the top. Just keep going up the stairs. When you get to the top your rival will greet you and pull you over to Rowan and Dawn/Lucas. Apparently there is a scheme to make use of the energy unleashed by Pokemon evolving. Rowan explains more about the three lakes and the beings there might help him understand more about Pokemon evolution, why some do and some do not. He will then send you, your Rival and Dawn/Lucas to the different lakes. You will be sent Lake Valor, between Veilstone and Pastoria. Nothing too bad for you to reach at this point in the game.

After that, there will be massive explosion and your Rival will flip on the TV. You will see devastation from a bomb set off by Team Galactic at Lake Valor. He insist you head over there immediately. Fly over to Pastoria, head off to Lake Valor through the Hotel nearby. When you get to Route 213, it will be raining, a true sign of needing to make haste. Once you make it to the Valor Lakefront the rain will stop. Head up and you will see the Cameramen are gone, letting you finally reach the Lake. Head on in and you will see all the water was blown out of the lake. You will see a number of Grunts waiting for you as you head into the empty lake body. To challenge any of the Grunts just talk with them. The first grunt you can challenge is the second Grunt you encounter going down the stairs.

Grunt 1 – Glameow lvl. 35 and Murkrow lvl. 35

Head down to the bottom of the stairs. After that, you can either go up or down. Head down, as going up just has you encounter a Grunt who talks to you about how useless Magikarp are. Go up the stairs and you will find another Grunt who will challenge you. These will challenge you as normal, crossing the line of sight.

Grunt 2 – Golbat lvl. 37

Head to the right and you will find another Grunt waiting for you

Grunt 3 – Croagunk lvl. 33, Houndour lvl. 33, Stunky lvl. 33 and Glameow lvl. 33.

After this fellow, head into the nearby cave to find one of the Commanders in Team Galactic waiting for you.

Commander Saturn
Golbat lvl. 38, Toxicroak lvl. 40 and Bronzor lvl. 38.

He will put up something of a good fight, so be ready. Afterwards he will be surprised that you beat him and that someone of his skill was only able to buy some time. He boldly claims that Team Galactic will yet claim the three legendary Pokemon of the Lakes. He reveals that Mars should have captured the Pokemon at Lake Verity and then he vanishes. The cavern you are in is empty, so head on out. Time to get to the next part, take the one hint we got and head for Lake Verity.
