Pokemon Platinum Gym Series – Canaclave City

Inside you will be facing a number of Steel Type Pokemon. Your coach is not too much help, as all he states is that Steel Type Pokemon have High Defense. Steel is weak to Fighting, Ground and Fire Type attacks. Be sure to have some of these attacks on hand. Steel types can have some bite to them too, so expect a good fight ahead. Those with Chimchar as their starter will find a distinct advantage if they have the move Close Combat or Mach Punch.

Head left and up to face the first trainer, Black Belt Ricky with his Steelix lvl. 38. After that, head to the last platform on the right. En Route you will likely face Worker Gary as well. He will send out a Magnemite lvl. 37. From there, run to the right and down, taking that platform back to the ground floor and gaining access to the next area. Here, you will encounter Ace Trainer Cesar, who will challenge you with his Scizor lvl. 40. Just head to the left and take the platform up. Now, step onto the sliding platform in front of you. Loop around to reach the next platform that will take you up another level. Now, head upwards, across the sliding platforms. Keep going up. You will find another trainer in front of the next platform that will lead you in the right direction. This is Worker Gerardo, who will send out 2 Magnemites at lvl. 35. Hop across the two sliding platforms to take on the next trainer, Black Belt David, with his 2 Steelix at lvl. 35 and lvl. 37.  From him, head downwards, onto the next set of platforms, which are side by side. Head up from the second to drop down to the next level and trainer. This is Ace Trainer Breanna who will lead with a Bronzor lvl. 35 and follow it with Bronzor lvl. 36 and lvl. 38. Loop around and hop onto the next platform. Run to the left from that one to reach the one that will take you up to Byron.

Bryon
His team has some surprises in that it can handle the starters moderately well, depending on what the Pokemon actually uses. They all have somewhat diverse move sets which means they have a better range of type coverage. Keep on guard when fighting the Steelix because it has Sand Storm, which can really change the battle in Byron's favor if used properly. The Bastidon is the exception where it means to lock you into your attack moves and build itself up as a Wall. It also has a Sitrus Berry, so try to strike it down hard.

Hyper Potion: 1
Full Restore: 1

Magneton – Thunderbolt, Metal Sound, Tri-Attack, Flash Cannon
Steelix – Earthquake, Flash Cannon, Ice Fang, Sand Storm
Bastidon – Metal Burst, Iron Defense, Stone Edge, Taunt – Sitrus Berry

When the dust settles, Byron will give you the Mine Badge. This will let you use the Hidden Move Strength at any time. It will also mean that Pokemon up to lvl. 70 will listen to you. Only two more badges to go before you can challenge the Elite Four! He will also give you TM 91, Flash Cannon. Take a moment and head to the platform to the right of Byron. Just follow the sequence of platforms to find yourself back at the entrance.

Now, it is time to head over to Iron Island and grab HM 04, Strength!
