Guild Wars 2 – The Trial of Julius Zamon
Head up to the upper levels of Divinity's Reach and head to the Southern part of it to find the Ministry where you can meet up with the Countess Anise and Logan Thackeray. There you will be able to enter the instance that will let you finish this story line.
Head to the South and up the slope ahead of you. Go on up the slope and into the open amphitheater serving as the courtroom in front of you. There you will find the Ministry Guard ringed around it with Minister Zamon opposite you, with Thackeray, Anise, and Faren present. Head up the steps and approach the courtroom:
Logan Thackeray: “Our witnesses have arrived. Are you ready to present the case? As a noble, you're our best representative.”
Hero: “I've gone over everything a dozen times. Unless something goes horribly wrong, we'll get our man.”
Logan: “At this rate, Queen Jennah's guaranteed to notice you. If nothing else, I'll make sure your name reaches her ears.”
Countess Anise: “Minister Caudecus is waiting. Signal him when you're ready. Good luck, and may Lyssa bless you with unparalleled eloquence.”
Head into the amphitheater and over to the left. Talk with the Judicial Scribe to begin the trial itself:
Judicial Scribe: “Hear ye! The trial of Minister Julius Zamon is hereby called to order, Legate Minister Caudecus presiding. Who stands for the prosecution?”
Hero: “I do. Your honor, we have evidence proving Minister Zamon consprised against the citizens of Divinity's Reach. He abused his authority to commit thievery, murder, and treason. We will present incriminating documents and sworn testimony of respected members of the community, including the sister of the accused.”
Minister Caudecus: “The prosecution seems to have prepared quite a compelling case. Minister Zamon, can you refute these dire accusation?”
Zamon: “Refute? Why bother? My Lord Caudecus, in accordance with the most ancient tenets of Kyrtan law, I invoke my right to trial by combat.”
Caudecus: “This court accepts your invocation. By law and custom, you may choose a second to fight with you in the circle.”
Zamon: “Thank you, Legate Minister. I choose my retainer, Eitel the Unlovable, as my second.”
Caudecus: “The prosecution must also nominate a principle and a second, or forfeit the case.”
Hero: “I will be the principle, Legate Minister. I'd like to request a short recess to select my second.”
Caudecus: “Granted. When the prosecution is ready to continue, this court will reconvene and the trial by combat will begin.”
At this point you can choose one of 3 or 4 people to aid you in the fight:
Captain Logan Thackeray – Guardian: He is in heavy armor and can do some damage but is not the most active.
Ministry Guard Reth – Ranger: Reth will only be available if you went through “A Society Function.” He loves his bow and arrow. One of your foes will be very stationary throughout the fight making it a good choice to have Reth along.
Lord Faren – Warrior: Vain, yes, but not a bad fighter. Again he will attack some and provide some aid.
Countess Anise – Mesmer: The Countess has one distinct advantage over everyone else: she can go down but she will not be defeated. This means she will stay in the fight the whole time. She also offers both offensive and defensive aid throughout the fight.
Talk with them if you would like. They all have something to say on these matters. After that, return to the Scribe and tell her who you would like to be your second. Until you have told her, the choice has not been made. Once it has been made head for the opposite side of the room to begin the fight against Zamon and Eitel.
Minister Zamon and Eitel
Both Zamon and Eitel are veteran opponents. they have a lot of health which can force this battle out a good time. Zamon is an Elementalist and suffers, apparently, from an inability to move much during a fight. Eitel the Unlovable, a Hammer Warrior, does not have this problem and will do a lot of chasing. If you happen to go down, you can resume from the checkpoint to quickly appear in the courtyard just below the courtroom. Just run back up the stairs to rejoin the fight.
This is a little bit of sequence. It is paramount to begin the battle focused on Eitel the Unlovable. The reason for this is simple: he can revive Zamon an unlimited number of times. To make matters worse they are both invulnerable during this time frame. That gives you every reason you could want to quickly take down Eitel.
Once Eitel is down it is time to focus on Zamon. He seriously will only move a little. He also only really uses 3 attacks: Water Blast, Static Field and Ring of Fire. If he has more, he simply does not use them. Of the pair he is a lot easier to take down. Just watch out from the incoming spells and roll out of the way.
When the fight is over Countess Anise and Thackeray have a few words together and the mission will come to an end.
