Guild Wars 2 – The Informant
travel out to the Scaver Waypoint and go to the bridge that leads to the Trading Post there. You will find the entrance to the instance waiting right there for you.
Once inside the instance head across the bridge to the Southwest. As you enter the trading post you find Cin Fursarai arguing with a Norn who was going to escort some supplies back to the city. He will not pay what the Norn, Otarr Stumpkopf, demands so the Norn leaves. After that is a golden opportunity for your hero. Approach and talk with him. He will agree if you escort him.
As yiou get across the bridge from the Trading post 4 Level 6 Drakes come at him. Set into them immediately. As you get around the first corner a good 6 spider hatchlings and one spider come at you.
The rest of the attackers are groups of Centaurs that plague the area. They are determined to kill of you and Cin. The groups usually consist of at least 5-7 centaurs of a variety of talents. Expect to encounter a total of 3 such groups between the forest path and the bridge to the Shaemoor Garrison.
When you make it to the Shaemoor Garrison you will find the doors barred. Cin is not happy about this as centaurs are attacking the Garrison and they will not let anyone inside until the catapults are destroyed.
The 2 catapults to the right of the garrison have the lighter guard so start with them. There are perhaps 6 Centaurs well spread out around the area. Fight your way through the centaurs then focus on taking out the catapult. Each of the 3 catapults has ridiculous health so expect it to take a minute or so just to destroy it. The good news is the centaurs are more interested in killing you then maintaining the catapults.
As you make your way over to the final catapult you will find something of a real fight. There you will find a Centaur chieftain who has a few interrupt moves. He is lightly supported but it still takes some time to kill him. Just keep moving and dodge his charges to avoid being interrupted.
With the centaurs assault defeated Cin will finally give you the information he promised. Apparently this was one of a kind paper sold to Minister Zamon. He consents to be a witness, need be, and is grateful they will at least send the subpoena on decent parchment. It is time to leave the instance and track down Thackarey to update him on the progress of this mission. Head back to Divinity's Reach and go up into the Royal Palace. Just to the Northeast of the Palace Waypoint you will find the entrance to the next instance:
Logan Thackeray: I've been hoping to see you again. Do you have any news? What did the papermaker say?”
Hero: “Fursarai admitted he made the paper for Minister Zamon. He also agreed to testify to that effect.
Logan: “I knew Zamon was shady, but … organized crime? Setting up citizens to be robbed and brutalized? That's out-and-out treason. Nevertheless, he's a government official. I can't call him to trial without more evidence. Where are my manners? Allow me to introduce Countess Anise, Master Exemplar of the Shining Blade.”
Countess Anise: “Minister Wi's hosting a party tonight. It'll be a good opportunity to eavesdrop on ministers, their allies and their enemies.”
Logan: “Or we could search Zamon's house. The law allows it if someone's in danger or if we suspect treason. All right. We have one shot, so it's either the party of Zamon's house. I can't give you orders, so let me know how you want to proceed.”
Choosing to attend the party will lead you to “A Society Function” while opting to investigate Zamon's House leads to “Search the Premises”. "A Society Function" is all talking with people and doing a few favors. It offers a nice break from all the combat that the missions generally off. "Search the Premises" will have you stalking through Zamon's House and fighting his personal guard. The choice is yours
