Guild Wars 2 – Help Maxtar Rapidstep capture Dolyaks

“Interact with a dolyak calf to capture it. Defend captured from predators.”

Head just to the East of the Dolyak Pass Waypoint to find the shelter that Maxtar Rapidstep set up for himself. Approach him to learn more of what he is after here.

Maxtar Rapidstep: “You looking for a job? Because I got one for you.”
Hero: A) “Maybe. What's the job?” B) “You don't look like you're from here.”
Maxtar A) “I'm trying to rustle up some of these dolyaks for my ranch.”
Hero E) “What can I do to help?” F) “Why” - Leads to Maxtar B
Maxtar B) “I'm from Bovarin Estate, just down the road there. We raise fine cattle, but we want to expand our stock.”
Hero C) “So you chose dolyaks?”
Maxtar C)You ever had smoke dolyak beef? Much more exotic than regular cow beef.”
Hero D) “Wait … you're going to eat these guys?”
Maxtar D) “Of course not! Not yet anyway. First we have to raise 'em up to be real big and happy.”
Maxtar E) “It's real simple. First you have to capture the dolyak with a net. I broguht some of my net rifles for that part.”
Hero F) “Then what?”
Maxtar F) “Once the dolyak is trapped in the net, run up to it and wrangle a harness on it. BE quick or it will wiggle out of the net. You don't want that to happen.”
Hero G) “And after that?”
Maxtar G) “After you get the harness on, walk the dolyak back to me. They'll be tired by then, so make sure you keep predators away.”

The actual quest is nothing too hard one you get started. You are assumed to have the net rifle that Maxtar mentioned. Just head to one of the large dolyaks and attempt to capture the young calves. Be weary as attempting to capture one of the calves by the large dolyak will draw its ire. This means it is usually a good idea to take out the adult first to make it easier to capture the calves that surround it.

Once you have a net on one of the young ones, chase after it and keep throwing nets on it. If the net wears out then you need to start all over again. While this might not be a huge thing, if an adult dolyak is around you might regret it some.

When you finish you get the letter, “A Fine Day of Work” with 90 copper:
“Well, you've earned as much as I can pay you. Why don't you stop by to collect your reward? If you're looking for more work, I suspect you'll come in handy on the Diessa Plateau. We have real problems out on the range – Maxtar Rapidstep, Bovaris Estate.”

After the quest, return to Maxtar Rapidstep and he will be sellign the following Karma items:
Dolyak-Herding Bell: 168 Karma
Accessory, +6 Vitality, Level: 14
Carving Knife: 133 Karma
Dagger, Weapon Damage: 184 – 196, +9 Precision, Level: 14
Recipe: Dolyak Stew: 49 Karma
