Guild Wars 2 Walkthrough Part 9 – Wayfarer's Foothills, Victor's Point - Collect Dolyak meat for Gareth
Collect Dolyak meet for Gareth
Gareth is in the nearby lodge.
“Oh, Bear help me. Look, I don't like asking people for help with my job, but I'm tied up here. If you hunt some meat for me, I'll make it worth your while.”
Hero: “What's the problem?
Gareth: “There are a lot of hostile creatures around and I worry that my kids will get into trouble if they aren't kept busy. I'd appreciate if you could cull the local area of dangerous creatures. I could also use a hand with hunting.”
Hero: “Hunting?”
Gareth: “I need fresh dolyak meat for my smokehouse. Kill some dolyak nearby and bring back the best flanks you can. I'm not wild about this, but I'll reward you.
Hero: “Why aren't you happy about this?” (A) or “Why can't you hunt?” (B)
If chose A: I hate having others make my kills. It's not how I was raised. If I could do it, I would, but my wife changed things this morning.”
Hero: “What happened with your wife?”
Gareth: My Wife left early this morning on a journey of her own. I need to watch the kids until she comes home. It keeps me from hunting animals for the smokehouse.”
This leads to multiple choices:
Hero: “Aren't you mad at her for leaving?”
“So, bring the kids hunting with you.”
“I'll watch your kids. Go ahead and hunt.”
“Oh, a smokehouse?”
To summarize: He is not angry at his wife and understands why she left for a journey.
Head to the West of the Homestead. There you will find a number of Dolyaks to simply rip through. They do not fight back much. Still, if given a major chance they will. Just kill as many as you can and return to Gareth. He will be grateful for the meats and will take them out to the smokehouse to make some jerky from them.
