Eterna Forest

When you step inside the Forest, you will see someone right in front of you. This is Cheryl, who needs some help getting through Eterna Forest, as she has hear that Team Galactic is about and she is worried. You will decide to accompany her through and she will restore your Pokemon after each battle. She will help you with her lvl. 20 Chansey.

Since Cheryl will always restore any Pokemon to full health after battle this is a good place to spend some time leveling Pokemon up, need be. If you want to take some time to do so, just run around in the grassy areas. You will always encounter two wild Pokemon while you are with Cheryl, which means more experience for you. This is not a bad place to get weaker Pokemon to about lvl 15 – 20 with minimal difficulty.

Cheryl's Chansey:
Egg bomb, Softboiled, Refresh,

If you head to your left from the entrance, you will see a trainer and further to the left an item ball. The trainer  will be ranting about how great Bug Pokemon are, as they grow very fast. The item ball contains a helpful antidote. Head back to the right and up a little ways, then to the left. There is a Moss covered rock in this little clearing. If you look to the right, you will see some small trees that you could cut down if you had the HM and the Gym Badge. Make to the right then up, cutting around the trees blocking your way. There are a pair of trainers waiting for you on the other side to challenge you and Cheryl to a battle. This is Bug Catcher Jack and Lass Briana. They open with a Wurmple, lvl. 11, and Pachirisu, lvl. 16. The Wurmple is very weak, so it makes for an easy first target. After you defeat jack's Wurmple, he sends out a Silcoon, lvl. 13. It has Poison Sting, so be on your guard in case a low-health Pokemon gets poisoned. After you defeat the Silcoon, Jack sends out a Beautifly, lvl. 15. It will use Gust or Poison Sting against you, but it is not too hard to take down. The Pachirisu will attack with Spark or Quick Attack. It is also Briana's only Pokemon, so once you take it out, it becomes a two on one fight, favoring you.

After this Dual-battle, head up and to the right a bit. You will see an item ball sitting near the middle of the path. It has a Parylz Heal inside it. From there, head right, then down, you will see another pair of trainers waiting to challenge you. These trainers are Psychic Lindsey and Psychic Elijah. They both have Abras, lvl. 17. They attack with Hidden Power. Hidden Power is an odd attack, as its typing varies between each Pokemon. In this case, it seems they both have Hidden Power Fighting, as they do Super Effective damage against Cheryl's Chansey. Abras are fast, but they are quite weak to physical attacks. If you take a moment to talk with them after the battle one tells you that even though no one lives inside the Old Chateau there is a presence from it.

Keep heading downwards to reach the next patch of grass. If you look in the bottom left of the grass, you will see an item ball which has a Net Ball inside it. From there, head to the right. Again, after you clear the grass, you will see another pair of trainers waiting to challenge the pair of you. This is Bug Cathcher Phillip and Donald. They open with Burmy, lvl. 14 and Wurmple, lvl 11. Both will attack with Tackle, so nothing too bad. Just use whatever works to bring this duo down. When you take down the Wurmple, they will send in a Silcoon, lvl. 13. This one has Harden, so it could become more difficult to take down, so put a little priority on it. After that comes a Dustox, lvl 15. This one has Poison Sting, so keep an eye on your Pokemon's status. After you take down the first Burmy, another will take its place. This one may use Protect, which will prevent any damage it takes that turn, so be on guard for it. After the Dustox and the second Burmy, you have won. Keep going to the right, there will be a clump of trees with a small indent on right side. There is an item ball there which has a Potion inside it. Head back a little to the split between the clumps of trees. Head upwards and you will see a sign, which tells you that poorly lit areas like forests and caves likely have items hidden on the ground, and beyond that another pair of trainers. This pair is Psychic Kody and Racheal They will send out a Psyduck, lvl. 17, and a Meditite, lvl. 17. The Meditite will likely attack with Confusion, so be wary as it can confuse your Pokemon.  The Psyduck will likely attack with Scratch. It is the tougher of the pair as well so expect it to take a hit or two more than the Meditite did.

Keep going upwards and then to the right then head upwards some more. If you go all the way to the left from here, you will find an item ball, which has a Green Shard. Keep going upwards, then break to the right. You will pass two small trees you can cut down. Beyond those trees rests the Old Chateau you heard about earlier. For now though, you cannot get there as you need Cut. Keep going to the right to exit the forest. Cheryl will be grateful for helping her though and she will give you a Soothe Bell.

The Soothe Bell is a helpful hold item. Give it to a Pokemon and it will increase how much they like you as you walk around with them in your party.
