Pokemon Platinum Walkthrough Part 3: Twinleaf

After the TV scene with Prof Rowan, you find yourself in your room watching the TV.
First, let's learn how to save the game. You should always save the game when you are done playing so that you dont lose your progress. I recommend saving every hour or 2 as well so that you can go back if you make any mistake.
To save the game, press "X" to bring up the menu. Go to SAVE and hit "A". Confirm that you want to save the game. If you already saved before, it will warn you "There is already a saved file. Is it OK to overwrite it?". Note that you can only have one saved game at a time per pokemon platinum cartridge. Never turn off the DS until it says it has finished saving.
After you save, start moving towards the stairs to the right. Your rival will appear. He will tell you he wants to go to Prof Rowan to ask him for some pokemon. He then heads out telling you he'll be waiting outside.
You might be wondering when you'll get your first pokemon. Don't worry, its coming up real soon!
Go down the steps.
Your mother stops you downstairs. You can talk to her by facing her and hitting "A". Make sure to always talk to people you meet - many offer words of advice, and even some nice gifts!
Head out of the house.
Your Rival's house is to the Northwest.
As you are about to step into the your rival's house, you bump into him as he is coming out. After a short dialog, follow him into the house and up the stairs. Then follow him back down. If you talk to his mother she will tell you that he is on route 201. Exit the house and head North. Your rival will be there. After a short dialog, Prof Rowan appears! After a short dialog he tells you to open his briefcase and choose a pokemon!
