Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword Walkthrough Part 28 – To the Lanayru Sand Sea

Head to the left from where you emerge and make your way over to the “door” marking in the northeastern part of the wall. Blast it open, go through the tunnel and proceed along the clawshot course to reach a Goddess Cube. Now head over to where the cages are, to the south of the entrance of the mining complex. Use the Beetle to drop a bomb on the nearby Hrok then use the Clawshot to get at the Goddess Cube above.

Explore around the desert some more as there are a couple more treasures but nothing as big as Goddess Cubes that you can now reach. When you are ready, head for the sandfalls in the southwestern area of the desert. Use the Clawshots to scale up there can gain access to the Sand Sea.

Lanayru Caves
Inside here you will find a friendly Goron, Golo, chipping away at a wall of rubble. Approach him to get the key you need to get to the Sand Sea. Be sure to collect what goodies you can in this room, like the treasure chest as well as summon the Gossip Stone that is in the middle of the room with the Harp. Now just use the Clawshots to climb up to the door. Head down the tunnel and you are there.

Lanayru Sand Sea
Start by using the Clawshots to climb down to the port itself. Once there head for the Save Statue that sits on the western edge of the dock. Before you head down the pier itself, go north. Climb up onto the nearby cargo containers and you will find a Clawshot point to the west of you. It is not an easy shot but it can be made and it will lead you to a Goddess Cube. With that, head out to the end of the pier. There you will want to strike the Time-shift stone that is sitting on the boat. It will revive the robot behind you then retract into the boat itself. Talk with the robot to learn it is The Captain and it once had a vessel powered by Naryu's Flame which was stolen long ago. Go through the dialogue with it and then the pair of you are off to Skipper's Retreat to get a true sea chart.

Sea Travel
The Skipper is nice and marks on your map where you need to go, which is in the southern part of the Sand Sea. If you take the most direct route there it is very likely you will not have to fight anything on the way over there. If you explore the sea you will need to deal with a number more hazards like spumes and Bokoblin archers.

It only takes a couple minutes to reach the Skipper's Retreat so enjoy boating around a bit.
